Physiotherapists are health care professionals who maintain, restore and improve movement, activity and health, enabling individuals of all ages to have optimal functioning and quality of life. Physiotherapists are also involved in promoting health, wellness and fitness through risk factor identification and the implementation of services to reduce risk, slow the progression of or prevent functional decline and disability and enhance participation in chosen life situations.

Bachelor of Physiotherapy (B. PT)

B. PT course in our institution was started in the year 2001. It is recognized by Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat and Ministry of Health, Government of Gujarat.

The course extends over a period of four academic years followed by six months of internship as per the regulations laid by the University.

Till date seven batches of Physiotherapists have graduated from our institution who are well settled and are successful in the profession. Our passed out students are either practicing or pursuing higher studies, spread across the globe in US, UK, Canada and Australia.

Master of Physiotherapy (M. PT)

Post Graduation in Physiotherapy (M. PT) offers a wide range of opportunities to therapists to excel in various fields of specialization. Common specialization areas include Orthopedics, Neurology, Cardio vascular and respiratory, Sports, Obstetrics and Gynecology and Pediatrics.

Orthopedic Physiotherapy also commonly termed as Musculoskeletal specialty is the specialty where Physiotherapists are trained to manage Orthopedic patients with traumatic conditions, sprains, strains, Pain disorders commonly involving Low back, neck and peripheral regions including rehabilitation after orthopedic surgery. A post graduate in Orthopedic Physiotherapy can choose from a wide range of practicing options available once they complete the course.

Neurological Physiotherapy focuses on handling patients with neurological conditions widely ranging from nerve disorders and diseases to stroke and patients with diseases and disorders of the brain and spinal cord. Long term rehabilitation is essential in neurological conditions and therapists will be competent in assessing, evaluating and managing these patients, aid in restoring and maintaining function, slowing disease progression and improving quality of life.

In Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiotherapy specialty, therapists get trained on how to manage prolonged bed ridden patients with chest complications with or without a cardiovascular impairment or those who have had cardiac or pulmonary surgery. It also involves handling acute chest conditions in emergency care setup including ICU, ICCU and MICU. Primary goals of this specialty include increasing endurance and functional independence.

Sports Physiotherapists are in great demand nowadays owing to the fitness awareness among population who want to maintain their body at the optimal fitness levels. Not limited to this they are also in demand among various sports teams to improve performance and decrease and prevent injury occurrence. They are involved in the care of athletes from recreational to professionals. The recent awareness among the sport fraternity on the importance of Physiotherapy and Physiotherapists, Sports Physiotherapists are the most sorted specialists in the Sports management team.

The area of Obstetrics and Gynecology is minimally explored even though it is the emerging specialty which is clearly gaining momentum among therapists. Broadly placed under women's health, this area specializes therapists in managing various health issues including pre and post natal women.

Pediatric Physiotherapists work to restore and improve functionality in children affected from birth and post birth complications - Cerebral Palsy, motor delay or delayed developmental milestone, to name a few.

M. PT course commenced in our institution in 2012 with two specialties – Orthopedics and Sports. Presently, in addition to Sports and Orthopedics we have Neurological Physiotherapy with Cardio Pulmonary and Rehabilitation specialties to be added in the near future. It is two years full time course and is also affiliated to VNSGU.

M. PT program will be the first of its kind in South Gujarat region and our institution will be proud to deliver well trained specialists to the society.
